Early Beginnings

THE TREE
When I turn three
I want a tree.
I want a tree house
& a mouse.
A tree to climb
or find a dime
or play until I turn four
cause then I want a floor.

THE SUNSET
As I held his hand beside me
We sat together on the wall
Deep into my eyes looked he
As the sun began to fall
I will never forget that sunset
It was when we first met.
But soon some things would befall me
That I would regret.
Like when he went to a high school party
Where kids were getting high
He was offered to drink
But he said he’d rather die.
So a drunk didn’t think
and pulled out a gun.
Yhou won’t believe this
But that guy was his best friend
That night I had become a Mrs
instead of a Miss
My fiancé fell with a bullet in his heart
I had to say good-bye to my other part
And that is why
You don’t get high
Cause you’re the one that will suffer
With the memories
Age; 11
(AN: Actually, no, the narrator suffered, and she wasn’t the one high at all. However, it is interesting that either she was getting married in high school or her fiancé was partying with younger kids . . .)

TO MY CHEERLEADING COACH
I say “I can’t”
She says “You can”
I try and I succeed.
I mess things up
She helps me up.
She’s patient and kind.
She looks out for me and my teammates
And doesn’t even mind.
Encourage she does,
She teaches because
This is something new to me.
She adds the rainbow to my sky,
the sun on a rainy day.
If I’m in trouble
she’s there on the doble,
And always there for me.
Giving time
and smiles & love.
She is as pretty as a dove.
She brings the message of sportsmanship
and tells the meaning of friendship.
If I fail
she does not wail
but helps me to improve.
She’s done everything for me
that is possible & can ever be
She may not have been reckognized
as coach or person of the year
But in the Longhorn’s hearts she’ll be
So yell out now, let’s give a cheer
Liz, Liz, she’s our gal
We love her now & always shall!
Age; 11
Actually, that coach was an awful woman and was really mean to all of us, but this poem made her cry!

RAIN CAT
Pit! Pat! Pit! Pat!
Scamper! Scamper! Scamper!
Run under a bush cat!
Don’t be shy
Don’t catch a fly
Just run inside
Don’t get wet
Just go and hide
Don’t eat your food
Don’t your water
Just be good.
Age; 10

Several Christmas Poems
Merry Christmas to One
Merry Christmas to all
Run into friends and family
But not the wall.
Age; 8

I got a stocking
I got a presant (present)
I got a letter
But for me it wasn’t.
Age; 8

Halloween
Down the street walks a goblin
Down the street walks a ghost
Down the street walks a
Scary, horrifieing Host
Age; 8 (lol)

I Am Just One Person
(you can see this poem feature in a short story in Legolas fic, though it’s a generic fic)

I am just one person, so small and yet so big.
I can only stand a certain height to show that I am proud.
I cannot jump a mountain nor dance upon the sea.
I can’t float away into the sky and dance upon a cloud.

I am just one person with a voice only so loud
My voice can only raise so high to show that I am mad.
I cannot drone out screams or cries or even words of hate.
I cannot yell out loud, the times when I am glad.

I am just one person with only so much strength.
My body is not strong enough to fight 1000 men.
I cannot weild (wield) a sword for days defending what I love.
I cannot be brought bown by war, then stand and fight again.

No people bow down at my feet, no statues raised unto my name.
I will not appear in history books, nor murals on a wall.
One will not look at me and recognize, for I will not be bold.
I will not beg for fame and glory, not utter such a call.

I am just one person, but that may be all it takes
To pull a person from danger’s grasp, to save another life,
To raise up kingdoms, bring forth glory, watch joy in action dance.
That may be all it takes to diminish someone’s strife.

I cannot promise miracles, nor riches or great fame
But I can promise that in my heart I’ll do all that I can.
I cannot promise not to tremble when death looks me in the eye
But I can promise that at your side I forever more will stand.

I am just one person, so small and yet so big.
I am just one person with a voice only so loud.
I am just one person with only so much strength.
I am just one person, but that may be all it takes.
