Dear Girls and Boys

It's silly to me how the first friends we choose
Are often also the first friends we lose.
And that although they smile and nod to my face,
They're slandering my name all over the place.
Though before the masses they support me,
To be quite honest, they deplore me.
And while to them, my secrets I entrust,
They've got to share with the world or bust.
And they will seize every tiny chance,
To knock me down without a backward glance.
But even sillier to me is that the last friends we choose,
Are most often the ones worth working hard not to lose.

Obviously I was writing a lot of poetry on Christmas day of 2005, lol. This is dedicated to a SLEW of my friends who suddenly decided they hated me.
