Hush, She Is Coming

Hush, she is coming
And she may not linger long
Dancing in on Autumn’s heels
Blink your eyes and she’ll be gone

Hush, can you hear her?
Her voice will rise above the sound
Of merry tunes and ringing bells
Yet her voice may well be lost
Amidst the sound of falling snow.
She will laugh along with children
Twitter with the cardinals,
Whisper Amour in lovers’ ears,
But if you don’t listen you may miss it.

Hush, can you see her?
Her eyes are in the sky at night,
Her hair she weaves with holly.
Her smile awakes with sun’s first rays
And she wears a dress of poinsettia leaves
Her hands reach up among bare branches
She dances with the wind’s sweet chimes
Her face is freshened with pure snow
But if you don’t watch close, you may miss it.

Hush, did you miss her?
Did you hear her peaceful voice
Or yell too loud to hear her song?
Did you see her glorious smile
Or did shut eyes blind you from it?
Did you feel her loving hug
Or move too fast for her to touch?
Hush, don’t you worry,
She’ll be back again next year.
